Grontmij Canor is continuing engineering services since 1996. The company has been expanding continually since its establishment, providing complex project management, design and consultancy services to increasingly important developments in Hungary. The very first job of Grontmij Canor was the full project management of the construction of new printing works and administration offices in Győr for Kisalföld, a popular regional daily paper bought by the Associated Newspapers (UK). In 1998 TESCO supermarkets approached our company to render complex project management, cost control and construction supervision services in their store network extension projects. Our company has managed more than 36 TESCO Store projects in 28 settlements across Hungary, these are already in operation.
Since 1998 our company has performed project management for the construction works of several new production halls for General Electric. GE expressed its satisfaction with our work by choosing us, following completion of the projects in Ózd and Zalaegerszeg, to manage the construction of the largest industrial project in Central Europe in 2000-2001, a turbine manufacturing plant in Veresegyház, the first stage of which included construction of a complex of buildings in an area of over 55 000 square meters.
As of 2001 our company launched to provide project management services for further international industrial developers. We had several significant projects like the SAMSUNG SDI manufacturing facility in Göd, a LEXMARK development in Tatabánya, the new manufacturing unit of Bosch Rexroth in Eger, the extension of NOKIA plant in Komárom or the largest capacity daily paper print works of Hungary, which was developed by the Swiss Ringier in Budapest Harbour Park.
Grontmij Canor also provides design, environment engineering and consulting services. Our design for a covered marketplace in Budapest's District XI won a prestigious architectural award in 2000. We have also designed world-class exhibition centres, as well as hotels and thermal baths. We are proud of our architects and engineers, who created the designs of the well known Thermal Hotel Visegrád and of the AQUAWORLD Ramada Resort and Spa in North-Budapest. FIABCI-Hungary awarded a special prize for AQUAWORD Ramada in 2009.
We have completed audits of several dozens of buildings over 100 000 sqm for various financial institutions and investors. Our expert have prepared several environmental impact assessments to large size projects.
In the framework of a PHARE project in 2001-2002, we carried out investigations on all municipal solid waste landfills throughout Hungary. In 2003 we commenced the engineering supervision of new waste management facilities in East-Hungary, providing state-of-art waste handling to half million inhabitants. This was our first common project with the Dutch Grontmij. Our team provides supervision also for waste remediation projects, like Üröm-Csókavár, Siklós or Hajdú-Bihar County.
We are active also in sewage and waste water treatment programs as supervising FIDIC engineer, rendering services in the citiy of Sopron since 2004, in Szombathely since 2005, in Kecskemét since 2006 and in Békéscsaba since 2010.
